Want to write a blog but not sure where to start? Don’t worry! I’ve got you. I started blogging personally and for work more than seven years ago and now writing a blog is second nature to me.
As a writer, you may think starting a blog would be a piece of cake. After all, you’ve likely written short stories, novellas, and full-length manuscripts that far exceed the word count of a typical blog. A thousand words should be no problem, right?
For many, it’s not. Writing a blog is a whole different process than a novel, but not impossible once you get used to the flow. In fact, many of the activities you do when planning out your stories can be applied to the blog writing process. For example, when you think of genre for your novel, think of the audience for your blog. When you consider how you lay out your scenes, replicate it for how you want to lay out key points in the blog. So on and so forth.
If you want to get the ball rolling, check out the tips I shared on the Contemporary Romance Writers of America’s blog. Here, I shared six basic steps to get you started.
